James L. Hoover, 93, of Austintown, Ohio, passed away at the Austin Wood Care Facility on April 14, 2021.
James was born in Ellwood City on April 13, 1928, son to the late Leo and Lillian Kistner Hoover.
After graduating from high school, James enlisted in the United States Navy and was discharged with honors.
He married his first wife, Margaret King, in 1952, and after her passing, he married Shirleen Porter on May 29, 1971, who also preceded James in death. Following his military services, James worked at the Lordstown Assembly Plant, eventually working his way up to line supervisor. James remained faithful to his military service by being a past post commander of the American Legion of Zelienople.
He leaves behind his three daughters, Linda (Steve) Huennekens, Valerie (David) Bauer and Cindy Ferrucci, all of Bessemer; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wives, James was preceded in death by his son, Tim; grandsons, Neil and Justin; his sister, Betty, and brother, Gordon.
Private military rites will be held for James and he will be laid to rest in St. Anthony Cemetery in Bessemer. The family has entrusted the care of James to the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home, Bessemer.
