Darlene Palmer, 88

Darlene D. Palmer, 88, of New Galilee, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2021, at her home. She was the daughter of the late John Miller and Rosella Rebecca (Krinner) McKinney and was born August 28, 1932 in Ellwood City.

She is survived by her two daughters; Shelley Hockenberry and her husband Dan of New Castle, Kitty Hockenberry of Hermitage, grandchildren; Donna Hockenberry of West Middlesex, PA, Joseph Hockenberry and his wife Roxanne of Hermitage, Katie Westberg and her husband Brian of Hubbard, OH, Tina Voelker and her husband Dave of Erie, Melissa Lee and her husband Dan, Tiffani DeSantis and her husband Dave of Pulaski, Tonya Hockenberry of Hawthorne, great-grandchildren; Gunner Hockenberry, Ava Voelker, Caleb Voelker, Corinne Voelker, Nathan Voelker, Anastasia Pardick and her husband Benjamin, Alexis DeSantis, Marissa Altenburg, Brenden Altenburg, Sierra Hockenberry, Kendall Hockenberry, Samantha Overacker, one great great-grandchild; William Overacker.

Darlene was a graduate of Lincoln High School and she met and married the love of her life Shelley Palmer in, 1950. She was a waitress, early in her life, and was employed in the Eagle’s Nest, caring for the shopper’s children at Giant Eagle and she was also a dairy Farmer. She enjoyed going to farm shows, all over Pennsylvania. They enjoyed traveling and traveled all over the US. She was a great cook was famous for her purple coleslaw. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing five crowns and she would play all day long. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and great- great grandmother and friend and neighbor to all who knew her, and she will be missed greatly.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Shelley Palmer, one son; Daniel Palmer, one son-in-law; Timothy Hockenberry, one grandson; Jason Hockenberry, one grandson-in-law; Alex Overacker, two brothers; Oliver “Jim” McKinney, Clyde McKinney, four sisters; Evelyn Wiley, Lillian Wiley, Loulla Hockenberry, and Dorothy Shinsky

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to THE TURNER FUNERAL HOME located at 6th and Park in Ellwood City.
