Local Racer Wins 2015 Kid Kart National Title

Hoyt Mohr, six years old of Chewton, recently raced in St. Louis, MO and was on top of his game, winning the 2015 Kid Kart Restricted Class National title. Mohr is a rookie at racing Go Karts but he is gaining experience every time he goes out on the track.

Hoyt started his race career last year at his home track of Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum. He travels with his parents, Scott and Katie, and younger brother Chase to tracks in Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina and most recently Missouri as well as attending all race events at his home track in Wampum.
Winning the Kid Kart national race was not just the biggest race of the season for all Kid Kart racers, but for Hoyt it was his very first Kart win! This win was the most exciting experience in his young life. It was just as exciting for his parents who work on his Kart and have become his “pit crew.”

When Hoyt was introduced at the 2015 Kid Kart Nationals to receive his trophy, the announcer introduced him as part of the “Pennsylvania Posse,” and for anyone who knows racing in Pennsylvania, this is a title that is given to Pennsylvania’s finest racers and will follow him throughout his racing career.

Hoyt’s love for racing started when he was about three years old, watching NASCAR with his grandfather and going to races like Richmond and Dover. He also loves to watch sprint car’s and follows the World of Outlaws, and loves to go to races at local tracks like Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa.

Hoyt will tell you he wants to drive the #18 Kyle Busch car when he’s older, but he also wants to drive the sprint car for a local racer, Jerry Matus. So it looks like Hoyt may already have his career plans in order.

Hoyt and his family thank everyone for their support in the Kart Racing circuit, including everyone who comes to watch him race, his family, and friends. He is grateful for his sponsors who support him financially which include Viperizer Racing, McElwain Motors, Castroil Oil, Matus Auto Service and McBride Beef Farms.

He also thanks the many great people he has come to know and respect at the tracks where he has raced: friends from CRP Racing, DCG Racing, Eric Snell and Mark Bergfelt who are great mechanics, Casey Drake for his knowledge of building and maintaining these motors, Dan from Kartwerks for supplying and setting up a great chassis ,and Talon Drake and Jim Brickley who worked with Hoyt on the driving portion of the track while in St. Louis.

Most importantly, Hoyt thanks God and his parents for providing him the opportunity to compete, the strength and vision to follow a young dream for a bright and competitive future.

Hoyt will race the last race of the 2015 season at his home track, Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum on Aug. 29 and 30. The race is sponsored by the World Karting Association and for sure will be a weekend full of fun and great competitive racing. Pitt Race Complex is open to the public for these events and this is your chance to see and meet the next generation of racers.
