Acclaimed Local Artist and Author to Share Her Personal Journey at January’s Meeting

January’s guest speaker at the Ellwood City Area Historical Society’s monthly meeting on the 13th will be acclaimed local author and visual artist, Lynda McKinney Lambert.

A retired Professor of Fine Arts at Geneva College, Lynda’s poetry and non-fiction essays have been published in a variety of literary journals, anthologies, and academic writings, as well as her personal accomplishments that are featured in several books.

Lynda’s unique personal story involves her sudden and profound loss of sight in 2007 that she had to overcome through intensive rehabilitation. Lynda was able to repurpose her sight disadvantage by learning new ways of working at her craft and using technologies available for the blind. Her poems invite readers to join her in a pilgrimage. Her themes are from mythology, journeys, memories, the landscape, and nature.

Lynda currently works full time at her writings from her home in Wurtemburg where she has lived most of her adult life. She has traveled extensively doing presentations at academic conferences and national and international art exhibits of her work. Included in her journeys wereas the teaching of month-long courses in Salzburg, Austria; and Humanities courses in Arizona; Puerto Rico; The Czech Republic; Italy, Germany, France, and England. Lynda has published 3 books and will be celebrating the introduction of her first chapbook of 30 original poems: first snow, released on January 3, 2020.
