The Ellwood City Area Historical Society will meet Monday, May 13 at 7:00 pm.
Two scholarships of $1,500.00 each will be given at this meeting. Two high school senior graduating students, that will further their education, will be the recipients. Lincoln High School Gina Lynn DiCarlo and Riverside High School senior Isabella Marie Pansera will receive these awards. These students have been selected by the History Scholarship Committee; Mary May, Kay Houk, and Barbara Mastropietro.
Applicants were required to write a 400—600-word essay on the subject of Ellwood City Area history. Gina’s essay was titled The History of Rock Point Park, and the title of Isabella’s was Ellwood City’s Living History. The winners will read their essays at the meeting.
Ellwood City Area Historical Society is very fortunate and pleased to continue these scholarships, a program that started in 1999, providing $63,000.00 financially, in local educational assistance to deserving students.
