Alfred G. Crowther, Sr., 67

Alfred G. Crowther Sr.,  67, of  Ellwood City  (Slippery Rock Twp.) passed away peacefully at his residence  on Wednesday April 11 2018, after an extended illness.

He was born in Ellwood City on July 9 1950 to the late Alfred E. Crowther and the late Laura Davis Crowther.

Al graduated from Lincoln High School, class of 1969.  He  enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1967, serving in the 3rd Marine Division, including  one tour in Vietnam.   He was also at Camp LeJeune and Okinawa, and was part of the 2nd Force Recon , earning a meritorious unit citation and Vietnam Medal.

He worked for 41 years at Nalco ( formerly Calgon) in Ellwood City.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years,  Joanne M.  Wallis Crowther, and by two sons:

Alfred  (and Nikki) Crowther of  Fombell;    and Corey J. (and Nina ) Crowther of Ellwood City.

Three grandchildren survive.

He is also survived by three sisters:  Alfreda  Mackey of San Diego, CA;  Marlene  Cook, and Janice Crowther, of Aliquippa.

Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents,  he was preceded in death by one sister,  Laura Neupauer.

Friends will be received from 2-6  P.M. on Sunday, April 15 2018 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 500 Sixth Street, Ellwood City.

Services will be conducted at TURNERS  on Monday, April 16 at 1:00 P.M.

Burial will follow  in Slippery Rock Church Cemetery.

Full military honors will be bestowed at the cemetery by the US Marine Corps and Marine Reserves, and  the Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial donations may be made Lawrence County Humane Society.
