Smoking Marijuana on Porch
- Krystal Chambers, 29, of Ellwood City, was charged with marijuana possession for an incident on Nov. 1. According to a criminal complaint filed on Nov. 2, an officer arrived at a residence on Glenn Avenue in response to a drug complaint. The officer immediately smelled marijuana but Chambers denied smoking and claimed her friends had done so earlier. The officer discovered a marijuana blunt in an ash tray, and Chambers denied it was hers. Eventually, Chambers admitted to smoking the blunt but denied having more marijuana. The officer then discovered more marijuana in a plastic bag on a chair, and Chambers admitted it was hers.
Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor
- Stephanie Kwiat, 21, of Ellwood City, was charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor. On Oct. 28, Stephanie Kwiat, 21, called police to a residence on Crescent Avenue for a possible overdose. She informed officers that she had given her friend, a juvenile male, Yeager and Mikes Hard Lemonade and that he had drank too much. As she had had some drinks, she did not feel safe driving him to the hospital. The male was transported to the hospital and given a citation for underage drinking.
Cutting Wire Along the Railroad Tracks
- Anthony Cirelli, 26, of Ellwood City, was charged with theft and receiving stolen property for stealing wire along railroad tracks. According to the criminal complaint, police responded to a report that an unknown man was ripping up wire along the railroad tracks between Second Street Overpass and the tunnel on Fifth Street. The investigating officer confronted the man, who was identified as Cirelli. Cirelli said he got the wire from a friend at National Lighting in Zelienople. On Oct. 23, police called National Lightning and determined Cirelli’s story was fabricated. The stolen wire is valued at around $500.
Theft
- Michael Ferrante, 50, of Ellwood City was accused of theft and disorderly conduct. According to the criminal complaint, Ferrante stole a tool box, shrub container, a garbage can, and metal grate from a resident’s property on Oct. 10. Ferrante stated he believed the items were scrap that were okay to take, and that he had put the items back when confronted by a neighbor. He is accused of theft and disorderly conduct.
DUI
- A New Castle man was accused of a DUI in Neshannock Township according to a criminal complaint filed on Nov. 4. On Sept. 4, an officer observed a vehicle moving erratically on Old Pulaski Road. After pulling over the vehicle, the officer identified the driver as Tobias Dornish. Dornish had such a difficult time retrieving his identification and exiting the car that the officer felt sobriety tests weren’t an option. Dornish was charged with two counts of DUI and driving on the wrong side of the road.
