The Ellwood City Wolverines lost their opportunity to close the regular season with a winning record. The Beaver Bobcats thrashed the Wolverines 48-17 in Friday’s away game.
Senior Nick Ioanilli had two runs in the second and third quarters and senior Justin Baney kicked a 23 yard field goal in the first quarter. The Wolverines were unable to score sufficiently to outweigh the Bobcat’s offense.
Beaver’s Darius Wise ran for four touchdowns totaling over 200 yards, including a 93 yard run in the second quarter. In addition, Brad Barker and Chase Marmone threw touchdown passes to Wise for 65 and 23 yards. Topped off with five kicks by Will Connelly, the Bobcats had 48 points by the end of the third quarter.
Neither team scored in the fourth quarter. The Wolverines ended the season 4-5.
