ECHS Spring Sports Q&A

The start of spring sports is right around the corner so we took the opportunity to interview a few participating seniors from Ellwood City High School about their upcoming season:

 

Tyler Good and Jordan Recce

Baseball:

Tyler Good

Parents: Michelle Biondi and Shawn Anglum

Years playing baseball: 4

Q. What are you most looking forward to in the upcoming season?

A. Winning section, playoffs, WPIAL, and state.

Q. What have you and the team been doing to prepare for the season?

A. Hitting, fielding, preparing for any and everything.

Q. Any tough opponents this year?

A. We’re not scared of anyone.

Q. How do you hope to improve this year?

A. Become more confident.

Q. What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned from playing baseball?

A. Don’t quit.

Q. What will you miss about baseball after graduation?

A. Playing with friends.

Q. Future plans?

A. Undecided major but definitely will be playing baseball.

 

Jordan Recce

Parents: Tona and Nick Recce

Years playing baseball: 4

Q. What have you and the team been doing to prepare for the season?

A. Practicing the fundamentals, also, a lot of pep talks.

Q. How do you hope to improve this year?

A. To be better than last year.

Q. What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned from playing basketball?

A. Even if things aren’t going as planned, don’t get down on yourself.

Q. What will you miss about basketball after graduation?

A. Playing with friends.

Q. Future plans?

A. Kent State for physical therapy.

 

Track

Taylor Petrak

Parents: Jay and Patti Petrak

Years in track: 6

Q. What are you most looking forward to in the upcoming season?

A. Making it to states in the 300 hurdles and overall getting faster.

Q. What have you and the team been doing to prepare for the season?

A. I have been finishing out my season in swimming, getting used to track and practicing the techniques.

Q. Any tough opponents this year?

A. The Beaver girls are always good in hurdles.

Q. How do you hope to improve this year?

A. Getting my hurdle technique down and running a steady race.

Q. What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned from track?

A. It’s good to do things that challenge you.

Q. What will you miss about track after graduation?

A. The coaches.

Q. Future plans?

A. Swim for Ohio State and major in engineering.

 

Nate Russo

Parents: Daniel Russo

Years in track: 4

Q. What have you and the team been doing to prepare for the season?

A. Lifting, running, preparing.

Q. How do you hope to improve this year?

A. Faster times.

Q. What will you miss about track after graduation?

A. Being with friends.

Q. Future plans?

A. Play football at college.

 

Billy Lott

Parents: Bill and Cindy Lott

Years in track: 6

Q. What are you most looking forward to in the upcoming season?

A. Getting better times.

Q. What have you and the team been doing to prepare for the season?

A. Training in the off season.

Q. What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned from track?

A. Keep pushing to be better.

Q. What will you miss about track after graduation?

A. The team.

Q. Future plans?

A. Major in physics and play cross country and track.
