Theresa Jones, 90

Theresa M. Jones, 90, of Brookville and formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2026. She was born October 18, 1935, in Pittsburgh, the youngest child of the late Joseph and Caroline (Cyganik) Kanoza.

She is survived by her daughters, Rose Hufnagel and her husband, Bill of Ellwood City, Vivian Tobin-Zimbicki of Brookville, Dorothy Carr of Zelienople; 10 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Theresa grew up in Sheridan, PA and attended Langley High School. She was married to Samuel A. Jones for 60 years prior to his death in 2014; they had six daughters and raised their family in the Pittsburgh area. She enjoyed outings with the family, picnics, and going to the country, now called “the country house” in Richardsville, where she had resided for the last 30 years. She was of the Catholic Faith and proud of her Polish heritage. Theresa was employed as a lab tech with her beloved (late) sister-in-law, Juanita Jones Chapman, at Calgon Carbon for over 20 years. Upon her retirement, she moved to Richardsville, where she enjoyed the outdoors, her flower gardens, birdwatching and especially feeding hummingbirds. She was a loving mom and deeply adored and cared for her family, her extended family, including many nieces and nephews, and many, many Twelve Step Friends. She had an extraordinary way of making everyone feel wonderfully special.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Jones; her daughters, Tami Marie Schmidt, infant daughters Darla Jo Jones, and Mary Jones; her grandchildren, Bill Hufnagel, Jr. and Paige Zimbicki; her brothers, Cyril and Edward Kanoza; and her sisters, Dorothy Brenner and Carol Young.

A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. (with visitation starting at 10:00 am) on March 21, 2026, at Richardsville Baptist Church, 3643 Hazen – RIchardsville Road, Brookville, PA 15825. Interment will be in Richardsville Cemetery.
