Mayor Anthony Court reached out to Ellwoodcity.org to confirm that Ellwood City will now hold its trick or treat night on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
“It is being moved due to the predicted inclement weather,” Court said.
With cold temperatures, high wind, and rain in the forecast for Thursday, Court thought it would be best to move it to Saturday when the weather is predicted to be better.
The Ellwood City Police Department will be out and about during Trick-or-Treat hours, handing out treats to kids and helping ensure a safe and enjoyable night for everyone. Be sure to say hello and grab a sweet treat from our local officers!
*UPDATE 10:54 a.m.* Neighboring Wayne Township has also rescheduled to Saturday, November 1st, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to coincide with the surrounding area’s trick-or-treat hours. Ellport Borough changed back to its original plan of Friday from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. for trick or treat. Perry Township also announced on Wednesday it will reschedule its Trick or Treat to Friday October 31st 6-8 PM.
Franklin Township’s Trick or Treat is still scheduled for Thursday, October 30th from 6:00–8:00 PM. With Friday Night Football Playoffs and an Elementary School Dance on Saturday, the Supervisors decided to keep the date as originally planned.
*UPDATE 2:39 p.m.* North Sewickley Township Trick or Treat has been moved to Saturday, November 1st from 2:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. for North Sewickley Township. There is a dance at the Riverside school in the evening, and this time will avoid that conflict.
Safety Tips for Trick-or-Treat Night:
- Wear reflective clothing or carry a flashlight to stay visible.
- Stick to sidewalks and cross only at corners or crosswalks.
- Visit homes with porch lights on and never enter a stranger’s home.
- Parents should inspect all candy before it’s eaten.
