In a statement released by the Ellwood City Area School District, the schools will plan for a normal day of school on Monday, October 20th – the day following the planned borough power outage.
The following statement was made available on the district’s website:
We have been working to prepare our facilities, food services, and technology systems for the Ellwood Borough power outage on October 19. Our goal is to ensure everything is ready so we can resume normal operations on Monday, October 20.
We will have staff on campus this weekend to check all systems and ensure that our buildings are ready for students and staff to return on Monday.
At this time we are still planning for a normal school day on Monday, October 20. If any unexpected issues arise as a result of the outage, we will notify families and staff as soon as possible and will call a Flexible Instructional Day (FID) on Monday, if necessary, for any impacted buildings.

Ellwood City Borough Manger Kevin Swogger said earlier this month that the outage applies only to borough residents (not Ellport, or surrounding townships), and that they should be prepared for the outage to begin between 7 and 8 a.m. The outage could last up to 8 hours, but he said they cannot put an exact timeline on the repairs.
