Joseph D. Bellissimo D.D.S., 94

Born in Ellwood City, PA. on March 9, 1931.

As early as 9 years, after the death of his mother, he worked in his families’ grocery stores. In 1949, he married his childhood sweetheart, Rosemary.

He realized a dream in 1951 upon acceptance into dental school. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry in 1955 and earned a commission with the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Commander. He was stationed with the Marines and served two years at Camp Pendleton in California. His love for San Clemente has endured.

The community of Eagle Rock reminded them of home and in 1957, he and Rosemary (passed in 2021) relocated there to live and raise five children. His dental practice was opened in 1960 and he proudly practiced there until his retirement in 2001. His love of hunting, fishing and his family kept him busy!

He is survived by his five children, Elizabeth, Natalie, Joseph, Frank and James, along with eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren who will deeply miss their “Pop”. His sense of humor, kindness and thoughtfulness will be hard to replace.

In lieu of services, he asked any donations be made in the Bellissimo name to Childrens’ Hospital of Los Angeles.
