Hare Tosses (Another) No-Hitter, Riverside Advances To PIAA Semifinals

A week after tossing a perfect game in the WPIAL Class 3A Championship, Zach Hare continued his postseason dominance and extended his no-hit streak to 31.1 postseason innings.

The senior struck out 13 batters in a no-hit performance Thursday to lead Riverside to a 6-0 victory over Mohawk in the PIAA Class 3A quarterfinals.

Dylan Meyer collected three hits to pace the Panthers’ offense. Meyer singled in the seventh inning, doubled in the second inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

Riverside was the first to get on the board in the third when Hunter Garvin doubled, scoring one run. The Panthers added three runs in the fourth and two more insurance runs in the seventh inning.

Riverside tallied 11 hits in the game. Sean Hayes, John Bowser, and Jackson Barber each collected multiple hits for the Panthers. Meyer stole two bases. Riverside collected six walks and five stolen bases in the game.

Riverside will next face South Park on Monday, June 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Seneca Valley High School in the PIAA Class 3A semifinals. The South Park Eagles stormed back from a 5-1 deficit to knock off Quaker Valley 6-5 on Thursday. The Panthers knocked off South Park 1-0 in extra innings in the WPIAL semifinals behind… yet another no-hit performance by Hare.

Panthers cruised to a 9-0 opening round victory over Huntingdon in the PIAA 3A playoffs Monday afternoon on its home turf.
