Ellwood City Improves To 3-0 With Victory Over West Allegheny

The Ellwood City Wolverines baseball team was victorious against West Allegheny 8-3 on Friday at Sanders Field to extend their early season unbeaten mark to 3-0.

The Wolverines opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with three runs thanks in part to two doubles, including a two-run double by Will Nardone.

Teagan Tomei hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the fourth for the West Allegheny but Ellwood City responded with three more runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning.

Aaron Lake earned the win for Ellwood City Wolverines. The hurler allowed two hits and one run over five and one-third innings, striking out six and walking four. Brysan Zirwas took the loss for West Allegheny. The starter went one and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs (zero earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking three. Will Nardone appeared in relief for Ellwood City Wolverines.

Will Nardone drove the middle of the lineup, leading Ellwood City Wolverines with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Cameron Mills went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Ellwood City Wolverines in hits. Ellwood City Wolverines turned one double play in the game.

Mason Gass, Jake McNabb, Teagan Tomei, and Jonah Buglak each collected one hit for West Allegheny. Teagan Tomei went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.

Ellwood City (3-0 Overall) is next scheduled to face Central Valley on Monday at Sanders Field.
