Wolverines Knock Off New Brighton 74-66

Kaleb Servick erupted for 17 second half points and Maykel Cuevas and Chris Smiley each knocked home three 3-pointers to lead Ellwood City to a 74-66 victory over New Brighton Friday night.

The sophomore guard finished with 21 points (10-15 field goals, five assists, four steals) in the contest.

Aaron Lake (18 points, 12 rebounds) joined Servick, Cuevas (12 points), and Smiley (10 points, five assists) in double figures for the Wolverines.

Ellwood City led 32-28 at halftime.

Lake and Servick combined for 17 of the teams 19 third quarter points but the contest remained a four point game after three quarters.

Servick collected four field goals in the final frame and Cuevas knocked home two of his 3-pointers to help Ellwood City secure the section victory.

Dash Graham collected a game-high 25 points for New Brighton (4-10 Overall) in defeat.

Ellwood City (11-6 Overall, 7-2 Section 1-3A) next will play Carlynton Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Ambridge HS.
