POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

CRASH:
On December 23rd at approximately 5:48p.m. a crash occurred on Ellwood Road. Unit 3 slowed down to pull into their driveway on Ellwood Road and Unit 2 slowed to wait for Unit 3, but was rear-ended by Unit 1, which caused Unit 2 rear-end Unit 3. Unit 1 and 2 sustained severe damage and were unable to be driven from the scene and had to be towed. Operator’s 2 and 3 sustained injuries and were transported via EMS to a nearby hospital.

CRASH:
On December 22nd at approximately 9:14a.m. a crash occurred on Glenkirk Rd, New Beaver Borough. Unit 1 was traveling straight on the roadway and lost control of her vehicle causing the vehicle to overturn onto its roof and came to a final rest. No injuries were sustained.

ACCIDENTAL DEATH:
On December 13th at approximately 1:30p.m. it is reported that Donald Robinson, 85, of Slippery Rock, was operating a gasoline wood splitter inside of his garage with the doors closed. Robinson’s wife, Wilma Robinson, 84, of Slippery Rock, checked on him and discovered him unconscious on the floor at approximately 12:45p.m. Wilma then contacted her son, Donald Robinson Jr, 60, of Slippery Rock, who immediately left his residence and contacted 911. Upon arrival, SRFD entered the garage and discovered Donald Robinson deceased, but Wilma and Donald Robinson Jr unresponsive but alive. Both were transported to a nearby hospital and are in stable condition according to the police report.

POSSESSION:
Mitchell Coulter, 42, of Aliquippa is charged with possession after a burglary occurring on December 4th at approximately 4:50 p.m. According to a criminal complaint, police were dispatched to a residence on Orchard Ave for a report of burglary. When police arrive they observed Coulter inside the house, and used their authority to remove him from the residence. Police searched Coulter and seized paraphernalia and narcotics from Coulter. Coulter was the transported to the Beaver County Jail, according to the complaint.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH REGISTRATION:
Jason Lambright, 34, of Ellwood City, is charged with failure to comply after a phone call regarding an incorrect address on the Megan’s Law website. According to a criminal complaint, police located Lambright and questioned him on the address listed. Lambright stated that he lived there, but stayed with his mother occasionally. Police did not believe Lambright, and wrote a report for the PSP Megan’s Law Unit and Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office, according to the complaint.

UNAUTHORIZED USE OF MOTOR VEHICLE:
Megan Pflugh, 35, of Beaver Falls, is charged with Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle after an incident on December 26th. According to a police report, the incident occurred as a 37-year-old male from Wampum allowed Pflugh to utilize his vehicle so she could go home, grab Christmas presents, and return to the Wayne Township residence. The victim related that Pflugh did not return to the residence after he had called and texted her numerous times to return the vehicle. Charges will be filed accordingly.

DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE:
On August 9th at approximately 12:03a.m. Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute. Police observed that the husband, 33, of Bessemer, and wife, 34, of Bessemer, escalated into pushing and shoving, and were both cited for harassment according to a criminal complaint.

THEFT:
Between the dates of July 29th and at approximately 11:00p.m. and July 30th at approximately 4:42a.m. an unknown individual(s) broke into the drivers side rear window of a 51-year-old male victim’s pick up truck causing approximately $500 in damage. Stolen from the vehicle was three power tools, two chainsaws and a backpack blower, amounting to approximately $1,709.97 in total. The investigation is ongoing according to a criminal complaint.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT:
per WPXI –  Logan Rapsinski is facing charges after police say he shot his brother around 10:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve in Butler Township. He has been arrested and is charged with attempted homicide.

Butler Township police responded after a neighbor called 911 and say they found the victim laying on the ground. Police say he was shot in groin and was taken to a local hospital.

The victim told police his brother shot him. The victim said Rapsinski left their house agitated and the family called Butler County Crisis for help earlier. The victim then drove around looking for Rapsinski when he saw him parked on a quiet neighborhood street. When he approached him, the victim said Rapsinski pulled out a handgun, loaded a round, shot him and then ran off.

The victim is in stable condition according to the report. Police say Rapsinski also called 911 and was taken into custody. According to police paperwork, he told police the victim approached him and threatened to beat him up before he shot the victim from about 14 feet away. Rapsinski is being held at the Butler County jail and also faces aggravated assault charges.
