Michael R. Nicely, 74, of Enon Valley passed away Monday, June 3, 2024 at Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford. Born August 16, 1949 in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late Willard and Ruth Meehan Nicely. Michael was a graduate of Northwestern High School. He was a welder by trade and had worked for Thompson Brothers Coal Company and at Universal Rundle in New Springfield OH. Mayor Anthony J. Court presented Gina Borselli with the 3rd Beautification Award of 2024. “Congratulations Gina on a job well done,” said Mayor Court in a statement. Dr. Anthony R. “Tony” DiBiagio, 96, of Ellwood City passed away on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at the Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown, PA. Dr. DiBiagio was born on March 11th, 1928 in Houtzdale, PA to the late Romeo and Josephine (Gatti) DiBiagio. He had graduated from Houtzdale High School with the class of 1946, and from Lock Haven University in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. Panthers Fall To Punxsutawney In Opening Round Of PIAA Playoffs

The Riverside Panthers fell to Punxsutawney 3-0 Monday afternoon in the first round of the PIAA Playoffs. Parker Stahlman twirled a complete-game four hitter to stymie the Panthers offense and bounced the defending PIAA champions from the 2024 tournament. Virginia A. Dufford, 90, of Wayne Township, passed away at her residence on Monday, June 3, 2024. Born in Ellwood City on September 14, 1933, Virginia was the daughter of the late Levi and Adaline L. Kirker Rape.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence V. Dufford on November 4, 2015.  They were married on December 14, 1953.  Virginia had worked at Leeds & Northrup and was a member of the former Knox Presbyterian Church.  Virginia enjoyed playing bingo and her scratch-off tickets.  She also enjoyed quilting, but mostly enjoyed the time she spent with her family.
