The sunshine and warmer temperatures had area residents on the move in July! The summer season offers great weather for the big move and to get settled into your new estate. According to RocketHomes.com, homes in Lawrence County sold in July 2024 at an median price of $150,050, just barely above (0.4% increase) more than they did a year ago. Additionally, and more specifically, homes in Ellwood City sold for almost the identical price ($164,900, -0.1%) than they did a year ago in July. Justin Hand was among five golf standouts from Tiffin University to be named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars for the 2023-24 season. The 6’0″ senior and Riverside High School graduate earned a major in Accounting at Tiffin. He graduated from Tiffin University on May 4th Magna Cum Laude and started his MBA Program in Data Analytics at Tiffin University on May 14th. He is the son of Bill and Michelle. Louis W. “Macy” Miller, 91, of Wampum passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024 at UPMC – Jameson Hospital following a brief illness. Born June 21, 1933 in Wampum, he was the son of the late Frank Sr. and Bertha Toth Miller. He was married to Carol A. Mohr Miller. Macy retired in June 1995 from Medusa where he worked as a mechanic. Catholic by faith, Macy was a Veteran of the Army serving in Korea. He enjoyed fishing and watching the trains behind his house. Dorothy I. Boots, 85, of West Pittsburg passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at her residence. Born December 31, 1938 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. Sr. and Blanche Irene Mason Wiley. Dorothy had worked at Hillview Manor in the dietary department. In her younger years, she was an active member of the Center Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir. PHOTOS: PA Turnpike Beaver River Project Continues Into Its Next Stage

People in the area will see some piers and beams are in place as the project continues into its next stage. The project is currently in stage four of the eight project stages. Turnpike travel lanes have been shifted southward to accommodate construction activities for the new bridge and roadway alignment. The contractor has completed some of the piers for the new westbound Beaver River bridge crossing. Free Basketball Camp Draws 42 Participants

The free co-ed basketball camp at Ewing Park for 6 to 12-year-olds was held Monday, July 29th through Friday, Aug. 2nd from 10 a.m. to Noon. Forty-two campers were taught ball handling, dribbling, passing, defense, foul shot and layup shooting form and some rules of the game. The camp concluded Friday with games of knock out, horse, a shooting competition and games of five versus five. They were also treated to a pizza party. Ruth Middleton, 76, of Koppel passed away Friday, July 26, 2024 at Heritage Valley Sewickley. Born February 19, 1948 in Brown City, MI, she was the daughter of the late Hazen G. and Minnie L.
