The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. NOTE The Library has partnered with Seneca Library District, Oil Creek Library District, Erie County Public Library and Crawford County Federated Library System for e-books. PHOTOS: Annual Panther Night

The annual Panther Night was held Thursday at Riverside Memorial Stadium. Panther Night is a community event celebrating back to school and Fall sports teams and kicked off with the Riverside Marching Band performing and the introduction of the athletes. The event features food booths run buy many of the district booster organizations along with two food trucks and an array of apparel offerings available to help support student athletes as well. The Riverside Panthers Varsity Football team hosts Northgate on Friday, August 30th at 7:00 p.m. to kick off its regular season.


EC Girls Golf Picks Up First Win of Season, Boys Golf Remains Undefeated

The Ellwood City girls golf team picked up their first win of the regular season Thursday while the boys team keeps on winning. The girls golf team earned their first win of the season Thursday afternoon, knocking off Mohawk 211-217 at Delmar Golf Course. Rori Minerd paced the Lady Wolverines with a low match score of 47. Rylee Prestopine (58), Romy Westlund (60), and Chelsea Baker (62) rounded out the scoring for the victors. Pine Valley Camp Hosting 11th Annual Ride For Hope

The 11th Annual Pine Valley Ride for Hope will take place on Saturday, September 21th. The ride is set to begin and end at the New Castle Harley-Davidson dealership. After the ride to Pymatuning Spillway, all participants can look forward to a delicious meal provided by Muddy Creek BBQ and musical entertainment by the band Flashback. Cost is $25.00 for a driver, includes a shirt and meal. $15.00 for passenger, and $10 for walk-in diners. Auction and raffle winners announced after the meal. John P. Novalesi, 90

John P. Novalesi, 90, of Ellwood City (formerly of Wampum) passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Cambridge Falls following a brief illness. Born February 14, 1934 in Wampum, he was the son of the late Emilio and Emma Barrichini Novalesi. He was married to Marlene J. Karner Novalesi for 28 years when she passed in 1985. John graduated from Wampum High School 1953, where he was named as an All-State Basketball Player. Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church Celebrating 225th Anniversary On Sunday

On Sunday, August 25th, Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church is celebrating a special day – commemorating 225 years of God’s faithfulness at Slippery Rock Church. All Aboard Ellwood Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the industrial and railroad heritage of Ellwood City, has received a generous pledge of $400,000 from the May Emma Hoyt Foundation. Mary E. Ringle, 63, of Ellwood City passed away at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. She was the daughter of the late William and RaeAnna (Shinsky) Edinger and was born March 24, 1961, in Ellwood City. Tickets for the Ellwood City Wolverines Fall Sport Season will be sold on-line at gofan.co or the Go Fan app. Ellwood City will be slowly making the change to digital ticketing for all sports. There will be no tickets sold at the school at this time.  There will be a limited amount  of Adult tickets, $5.00, that can be purchased at the gate for each home game this season.
