PHOTOS: Little Miss Firecracker Pageant Kicks Off 2024 Festival

The Ellwood City Festival kicked off Friday with its 7th Annual Little Miss Firecracker pageant. The 2024 Little Miss Firecracker crown was awarded to Bristol Borselli. First runner-up was given to Katerina Callahan Lennon Greco earned the Patriotic Spirit Award. Last year’s winner, Reagan Boariu, also joined in on the fun. Congratulations to all of the participants, judges, and Jenn Greco for organizing the pageant.  Borselli will get to ride in all of Ellwood’s annual parades for the year. John A. Pounds, 60, of Ellwood City passed away on June 27th, 2024 at his residence. John was born on June 27th, 1964 in New Castle, to Ralph L. and Edith (Duncan) Pounds Sr. He graduated from Lincoln High School and was a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Slippery Rock.  Before becoming disabled, John worked for his parents’ business, “Park Gate Cleaning Service”.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and listening to classic rock. Mrs. Ursula M. Lallement, 75, of New Castle, passed away on June 25TH, 2024 at the UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township. Ursula was born on February 26th, 1949 in Cheshire, Connecticut. She was a clerk at the former Ames in the Franklin Township Plaza for many years. She is survived by her son, Henry Marshall and his fiance Kassi Streckeisen of Wayne Township, grandsons, Alex and Donavian Marshall, her husband, John Lallemement and step-daughter, Stephanie. Vogel’s Telemedicine Bill Set to Become Law

HARRISBURG – Following the approval from the Pennsylvania Senate and House of Representatives, Sen. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT: According to a police report, a 58-year-old male from Ellwood City reported a theft of a gun from his residence on Dutch Ridge Road, Wayne Township. Upon police arrival, it was discovered that a Ruger 22 cal. was taken from the clove box of an unlocked Chevy Silverado. The gun is valued at $476.97. The theft was reported to have taken place between April 1st and June 19th of 2024 and the investigation is ongoing. Dorothy A. Pogozelec, 80, of Chewton passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at her residence. Born February 17, 1944 in Waynesburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Bernice Tedrow. She married the late Bernard J. Pogozelec on June 22, 1963. She was a member of the former St. Monica’s in Wampum, a current member of the Divine Grace Parish in Ellwood City, and a longtime member of the Wampum Women’s Club.
