Donna Yoho, 85

Donna L. (Brown) Yoho, 85, of Ellwood City passed away on December 23rd, 2024, in New Castle. Donna was born on December 4, 1939, in Ellwood City, PA to the late Kenneth and Virginia (Main) Brown.

She is survived by her daughters: Terri Yoho of Ellwood City and Dawn Preston (Scott) of New Castle, her grandchildren: Ashley (and Sean) Winserof Beaver, PA.; Holliann Preston (Smiley) of Ellwood City, PA.; Miranda Hennessy of Cranston, RI.; Mackenzie (and Jeremiah) Allshouse of Cranberry PA.; Amber (and Nakota) Illig of New Castle, PA.; Robert Yoho of McCandless, PA.; Victoria Yoho of McCandless, PA.; her sisters-in-law Linda and Arlene Brown of Ellwood City, and many great grandchildren.

Donna was a graduate of Lincoln High School. She worked at the A&P where she met her late husband, of 56 years, Robert Yoho. She was particularly fond of his 1957 pink Pontiac Starchief and they married shortly after her graduation. She worked as a bookkeeper at Allied Auto for forty years, then as a cashier at Giant Eagle after her retirement. She enjoyed meeting new customers and offering them kindness when they were having a challenging season.

Donna was generous and thoughtful. It was not unheard of for her father, who was the police chief, to call her to bring dinner for someone who had just been arrested. She worked hard to serve others and would regularly support families who needed help. She showed her love towards others by baking and would create trays of cookies to offer to neighbors, friends, and service workers. She did not like attention, but instead quietly moved through the world creating space for others and giving as much as she could, as often as she could.

She was a devout believer in Christ and attended Park Gate Baptist Church throughout her entire life. She loved to join in fellowship and attend bible studies. She also helped with Sunday school, the Awana ministry, and the nursery.

Donna was exceedingly proud of her children- Terri, Bobby, and Dawn. She loved her grandchildren and took a very active role in raising them and celebrating their accomplishments. She did everything she could to create a beautiful life for her family. She adored her great-grandchildren, and they were her greatest joys in the final act of her life. She loved to read, garden, bake, and listen to her favorite music- Dolly Parton. Her home smelled like vanilla and cinnamon each Sunday morning as she baked treats for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Robert E. Yoho, her son; Robert “Bobby” Yoho, and her brothers; Kenneth and Richard Brown
