Bernard R. “Bernie” Lutz, 72, of Portersville passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at his residence.
Born March 22, 1952 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Norman L. and Margaret L. Coast Lutz. He was married to Patricia L. Lutz for 49 years when she passed away on March 30, 2021.
Bernie graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971. He retired from Koppel Steel after 20 years of service as a castor operator. In his younger years he worked as a mechanic for McClymonds Trucking and at B&W. He was a lifelong member of the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church and a member of A.B.A.T.E Butler County. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle in the summers. His most cherished time was spent with family, especially his grandsons.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy (Tim) McLaughlin of Portersville and Jody (Jerry) Osborne of Butler; four grandsons; Wyatt and Morgan McLaughlin, and Haden and Brady Osborne; two brothers-in-law, Bud Hinkle and Jim Graham both of Portersville; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Bob) Lansberry of Las Vegas and Kathleen Lutz of Park Gate; many nieces and nephews, and his fur baby, Little Tyke.
In addition to his parents and wife Patricia, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Norman “Rick” Lutz, and two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Hinkle and Nancy Graham.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday December 6, 2024 from 3 until the funeral service at 7 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Rev. Jay Sterling will officiate.
Interment will be in Mountville Cemetery.
