WOLVERINES BOY GOLF TEAM NARROWLY MISSES CUT IN WPIAL SEMIFINALS
The Ellwood City boys golf team narrowly missed the cut in the WPIAL semifinals Tuesday at Pleasant Valley GC in Connellsville. The Wolverines compiled a team score of 425 to finish fourth overall.
The top three teams advanced to the WPIAL Class 2A Championships on Thursday.
Juniors Jordan Keller and Nate Kennedy each shot 81 to pace the Wolverine golfers. Jaxon Rozanski (82) and freshman Gino Biondi (86) also contributed sub-90 rounds.
Quaker Valley (398), Shady Side Academy (405) and Greensburg C.C. (407) advanced. Ethan Dai fired a low round of 71 for Quaker Valley. [VIEW RESULTS]

WOLVERINES GIRLS TENNIS FALLS TO NORTH CATHOLIC
Ellwood City Girls Tennis team fell to North Catholic in the opening round of the WPIAL Playoffs on Tuesday in Cranberry Township.
The Lady Wolverines were shut down by the top seeded Trojans 5-0.
Ellwood City collected a 3-2 victory over Aquinas Academy on Monday in a preliminary round match-up at Wildwood Country Club. Meredith McCommons & Olivia Parsons (6-2, 6-4) and Sophia Agnew & Kiley LeViere (6-0, 6-1) earned straight set victories in doubles to help the Wolverines to victory. Mia Meredith (6-2, 6-1) earned the lone singles victory on Monday.

RIVERSIDE SOCCER SHUTS OUT ELLWOOD CITY 6-0
Riverside blanked Ellwood City 6-0 Tuesday afternoon at Riverside Memorial Stadium as part of the Panthers Senior Day. The Wolverines soccer team falls to 0-14-0 on the season and will turn its focus to Senior Night on Thursday and square off against Quaker Valley beginning at 6:30 p.m. Riverside will next travel to face Central Valley on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
ELLWOOD CITY GIRLS VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS LAUREL
The Wolverines girls volleyball team defeated Laurel in straight sets on Tuesday, improving its regular season record to 10-4. The Lady Wolverines posted 25-17, 29-27, and 25-14 set victories. Ellwood City will next travel to Beaver Falls on October 15th for a section match-up against the Tigers beginning at 7:30 PM
