The Panthers girls volleyball team earned a thrilling 5-set match victory over rival Ellwood City in a Riv-Ell Cup matchup Thursday evening at Riverside High School
The Lady Panthers jumped out to a two set advantage before the visiting Wolverines rallied back to tie the match at two sets apiece. Riverside then earned the rivalry victory with a 15-12 victory in the fifth and deciding set.
The Wolverines setback is their second section loss of the season and puts Neshannock now alone in first place of the section after the Lancers earned a straight sets victory over Laurel on Thursday.
Riverside improves to 5-5 on the regular season and also earn payback for its loss to Ellwood City earlier in September. The Panthers next host Beaver Falls on Tuesday, October 1st at 7:30 p.m.
Ellwood City (7-3 Overall, 5-2 Class 2A-4) next hosts Union Area on Monday, September 30th at 7:30 p.m. with a pivitol section matchup against Neshannock awaiting on Tuesday.
