Kathryn A. “Kathy” Sloan born in Freeport, PA on July 11, 1940 was the only child of the late Fred L. and Margaret C. Blackburn Sloan. She graduated from Freeport Area School District, Freeport, PA. in 1958 and from Temple University School of Dental Hygiene, Philadelphia, PA. She began her career working for the Ellwood City School District, Ellwood City, Pa. and enjoyed so much being with children. After eighteen years there, she worked for Gregory E. Brummett, D.M.D. in Center Township, PA. for twenty-four years where she enjoyed being with her patients. She also enjoyed cooking, flower gardening, and visiting with friends.
Kathy was an active member of the Knox Presbyterian Church and later joined the Christ Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over fifty years, including Past Matron of the Ellwood City Chapter #212 and as District Deputy Grand Matron.
She is survived by her “adopted” family, Floyd and Mary Kay Shirey of Ellwood City and many close friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday September 30, 2024 from 3:00 pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 6:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Rev. Tod Custer of the Christ Presbyterian Church will officiate. An Eastern Star Service will be held at 5:45 pm.
Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Rd.
