According to numerous media outlets, Ellwood City police have confirmed one male is dead and a suspect is in custody after a shooting Thursday night at Ellwood City Forge.
The shooting happened inside the facility around 6:30 p.m. according to Mayor Anthony Court. It is unclear how many people were in the manufacturing facility during the incident.
According to a police report, Ellwood City Police responded to the facility for a shooting that occurred within the facility and, upon arrival, a 36-year-old male, of Fombell, was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
The suspect, later identified as Timothy Woods, 31, of Ellwood City, fled on foot and was later arrested on Belton Road in North Sewickley by the local police department.
Police have not said what led to the shooting.
Criminal charges were prepared on Woods to include Criminal Homicide, Firearms not to be carrier without a license and recklessly endangering another person. Woods was transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await arraignment at the time of the police report filed Friday morning.
According to a statement released by the Forge on Friday, the facility will remain closed through the weekend and there is an active investigation to fully understand the event.
According to the news reports, PA State police are handling the investigation and will release more information Friday morning.
This incident comes on the heels of a recent stretch of criminal activity involving gun violence in the borough. A man was arrested September 8th for killing a woman in a driveby shooting and a Lincoln High School student was disciplined just three days later after making a shooting threat at the school that was later deemed not credible.
america has a gun and violence epedemic that wont be stopped. its too late. for 40 yrs the GOP fought against any type of gun control lying that it was about the 2nd amendment. they don’t care who gets shot unless its their nominee..
lol ya it’s the GOP fault
It’s high time we renamed this town. I’m thinking New Jack City, or Alcohol Town.
We don’t have a gun problem, we have a mental health problem. The left thinks by banning things, these problems will magically go away.
