Sophia “Sophie”Eva Wright Giffen, 94

Sophie was a 1948 graduate of Lincoln High School. She met and married the love of her life, William E. Giffen, on March 10, 1951, who preceded her in death in 1991. She was also a longtime member of Christ Presbyterian Church. She also worked at the Ellwood A&P for 16 years, working the meat counter. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her.

She is survived by her brother, Jim Wright, sister-in-law; Donna Wright, both of Ellwood City, and a host of several nieces and nephews and Great and Great-Great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; William E. Giffen, her son; James A. Giffen, her stepfather; John (Jay) McDonald, her brother; William D. Wright, two sisters-in-laws; Mary Elizabeth McKenzie, Anna Margaret (Peggy) Wright, and one niece; Norma Jane Thompson.

Friends can call on August 16, 2024, from 10:00AM-11:00AM with a Funeral Service following at 11:00AM at the TURNER-HYDE Funeral & Cremation Services with Reverend Tod Custer, officiating.

Interment will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park located on Route 68, in Rochester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either Christ Presbyterian Church, 325 Spring Avenue in Ellwood City or the Ellwood City Volunteer Fire Department, 411 6th Street in Ellwood City.
