A one vehicle fatal crash occurred just after midnight into Saturday that took the lives of the driver and two passengers.
According to a PA Police report, and at approximately 12:30 a.m., a 2019 Nissan Armada was traveling south bound on State Round 65, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County and for unknown reasons traveled across the northbound travel lane, before leaving the roadway. The SUV then struck two utility poles and continued through a yard before striking a parked car located in a driveway. The SUV then became airborne and struck multiple trees where it came to its final rest on top of the parked unit. The 43-year-old male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 17-year-old and 13-year-old passenger were also pronounced deceased at he scene. A third passenger, an 11-year-old, was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital in critical condition.
The investigation into the fatal accident is ongoing.
According to a news report, the Lawrence County coroner advised that the SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crossed the center line and left the roadway. Due to the crash, Route 65 was closed to traffic in both directions between Hogue Road and Fridays Hill Road for a period of time in the early hours Saturday.
Assisting at the scene include Noga EMS, Slippery Rock VFD, Wayne Township, VFD, Shenango VFD, Shenango PD, and Lawrence County Coroner.
