James Charles “Charlie” Leslie, 86

James Charles “Charlie” Leslie, 86, of Wampum passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 17, 2024 at UPMC – Jameson Hospital.

Born May 14, 1938 in New Castle, he was the son of the late William B. and Florence A. Youkers Leslie. He was married to Loretta E. Czartorski Leslie for 60 years when she passed away on January 2, 2021. A quick, sharp, and keen sense of humor, Charlie enjoyed making people comfortable and leaving them laughing.

Charlie had previously owned and operated the Ewing Park Market and also worked at Inmetco. A veteran of the US Army, he loved farming and working in his garden.

Survivors include daughter, Stacey (Chris) Carlson of Venice, FL; son-in-law, Michael Romano of Bessemer; three granddaughters, Abby Carlson, Macy (Jack) Trosky, and Maria Romano; two grandsons, Matthew Carlson, Michael Romano; two brothers, William Dale (Lorraine) Leslie and C. Thomas “Beaver” (Linda) Leslie both of Wampum, and sister Nancy (Jay) Patterson of New Galilee.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Vikki Romano on February 6, 2006.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday May 22, 2024 from 11:00 am until the Funeral Service at 1:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street Wampum. Rev. William Webster will officiate. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
