The Brownies of Girl Scout Troop 28845 worked on part of a badge, called Take Action on Wednesday, May 1st and filled a new outdoor food pantry at Trinity Lutheran Church.
The requirements of the troop badge is to give back to the community.
The troop decided to make an outdoor food pantry with the help of Mark DiFrischia and SCS Designs. The Ellwood City community now has access to
non-perishable food items.
“The Food Pantry will be like the Little Library where anyone in the community can take or give a non perishable food,” said Josalyn DiFrischia, Lawrence County Chapter Coordinator.
After the ceremony on Wednesday the troop was outside enjoying ice cream from Sunny Day Treats.
“We celebrated the Brownies in completing such a vital addition to our community,” added DiFrischia.
The food pantry can be located at Trinity Lutheran Church, 207 Spring Ave Ellwood City, PA 16117. The pantry is on the parking lot side of the church.
The Girl Scouts state a pledge before each meeting called The Girl Scout Promise: On my honor, I will try: To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
These girls truly live up to this promise every year.
