Spring is here and Summer is just around the corner.
Grass is growing and many homeowners are attending to their property. April started yard waste pick-ups for borough residents.
The Ellwood City Borough Code Enforcement Officer Ralph Chiappetta would like to remind borough residents that the grass ordinance will begin to be enforced starting May 1st
The legal height for grass/weeds is not to exceed SIX (6) inches.
Also, the property must be clear of rubbish, trash and old tires. This may become a breeding area for rats, insects and other unwanted animals as well as a child safety concern according to Chiappetta.
Chiappetta adds if you have a dumpster, you will need a permit even on your own property. Please allow 3 working days for the permit.
If there are other issues with Property Maintenance, those will be dealt with on an individual basis. Code enforcement is designed to keep everyone safe.
The Borough also reminds residents that if you do not have your house number visible from the street, police, fire and paramedics have a harder time locating you in an emergency.
Thank you for your continued cooperation!
If you have any questions, please contact the Code Office at 724-824-7636.

Go after the ones that have shoulder length grass…it literally rained for almost a week straight and plus a lot of us work until late…get a life Code Enforcement!!
Code Enforcement literally walked through my neighbor’s yard, who has piles of garbage outside and no building permit, to ask me to mow my 4 inch grass. They’re useless. Kick rocks.
Check out junk behind Berry’s gas station. There is a run back there and the garbage is sliding down. also we behind them get to see all the mess!
