Dorothy H. Walters, 102, of Grove City passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024, in Denver, NC. at the home of her daughter. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Thomas and Gertrude (Palm) Reno and was born November 6, 1921, in Ellwood City.
She is survived by her two children: Paula Hartman of Denver, NC and Robert “Bob” Walters and his wife Molly of Mableton, GA; grandchildren, Luke Walters (Jennifer) and Kathryn Lowell (Mike); great-grandchildren: Ashlynne and Isabelle “Izzy” Walters and Haley and Olivia Lowell.
Dorothy was born and raised in Ellwood City and a graduate of Lincoln High School. She met and married her husband, Robert Walters, December 3, 1948, and they were married 37 years until his passing in 1986. Her family and relatives were members of the First Christian Church in Ellwood City. Dorothy worked as a Letter Carrier for the Postal Service in Grove City until her retirement. She and her husband were avid golfers and Dorothy played golf and was a league bowler until she was 90. She was always ready to go different places and travel. She and her family enjoyed many day trips all over Western Pennsylvania when they were younger with their children and in the past few years she made trips to Sanibel Island in Florida and Jackson, WY but her favorite travel destination was Hawaii. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and she will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Robert J, Walters, a sister Mildred Reno, and her parents.
Dorothy’s services will be private according to her wishes.
Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery.
