Kat Lubinsky
Part in Musical: Wednesday Addams
Current Grade: 12
Been in musicals/plays since: Since Freshman Year of High School
Previous leads/musicals you’ve been in: Happy Days (Calender/CarHop Girl), Matilda (Classroom Kid/ Featured Dancer), Damn Yankees (Gloria Thorpe/Featured Dancer)
Favorite Song in this musical: Crazier Than You
What interested you in this role: It was interesting to be able to see myself acting in such a different manor than I do on the daily basis.
What is an iconic prop in the musical or favorite part of your costume: My favorite is my yellow dress it really helps to show how Wednesday really wants to be normal for Lucas. I also am very fond of my crossbow because I too would be scared of me with a crossbow. (I have never shot a bow in my life)
What’s the hardest part about your role: Honestly the hardest part of the role for me was changing my entire personality and taking away my flare to be Wednesday. Her personality is far different than what mine is and was definitely and agustment for sure, but after a while it seemed like I could just flip a switch and I was in her mindset.
Has your character taught you anything “life changing” or that will stay with you after the show: Getting this role this year has really taught me that if you work hard enough for something there really is a possibility that you can reach it. Wednesday taught me to really embrace who I am and to welcome in new experiences and not be confined to what standard are calling normal. Just all in all be yourself.
What do you think the audience will like about the musical: I think that the audience will really like all of the comedy. The show definitely has quite a few moments that almost make me break character.
What is unique about this musical: This musical to me really gets to showcase the entire cast. There are so many opportunities for my cast mates to just go on stage and have a lot of fun.
If you could have a part in any musical … what would that musical be and why: I would love to be Satine from Moulin Rouge because the way that she sings makes peoples hearts wants to melt and I want to be able to do that. The love story in this musical is an amazing combination of beautiful and romantic but somehow also dark and sad.
What other activities are you involved in: I am also involved in the Riverside Chamber Choir.
Future plans: After High School I plan on attending Slippery Rock University for a Major in Music Education and a minor in theater. I would love to be able to teach high school kids choir I have had a lot of inspirations from my current and previous choir teacher and i just know that that is what I want to do with my life.
Anything else you would like to add: I encourage people of all ages and skillsets to get involved in the musical it could really make a difference in your life.
Corban Knight
Part in Musical: Lurch
Current Grade: 11th Grade
Been in musicals/plays since: The seventh grade
Previous leads/musicals you’ve been in: I’ve been in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” and “Happy Days” in the ensemble. Once I got to high school I was in “Matilda the Musical” as Rudolpho, “Damn Yankees” as Eddie, and this year in “The Addams Family” I play Lurch.
Favorite Song in this musical: Definitely “Secrets”
What interested you in this role: I thought it would be a nice switch from previous roles I’d had.
What is an iconic prop in the musical or favorite part of your costume: My favorite prop is hands down the scythe I use in “Death is Just Around the Corner” and my favorite part of my costume is definitely my shoes. I love towering over everyone, even more than I did without them.
What’s the hardest part about your role: the hardest part is probably staying in character though out the show. There are just so many funny lines in the show and everyone delivers them so well, it’s nearly impossible not to laugh.
Has your character taught you anything “life changing” or that will stay with you after the show: I should be happy I’m not any taller. The shoes are fun, but I would not like to have to duck to get through a door every time.
What do you think the audience will like about the musical: the comedic lines and dances and overall theme of the show.
What is unique about this musical: it has a wide range of other themes. At times it’s sad, creepy, funny, romantic, tense, etc. It’s just so versatile. I LOVE IT!!!
If you could have a part in any musical … what would that musical be and why: I would be Harry in “Mamma Mia”. I love Mamma Mia and I’ve been an ABBA fan for as long as I can remember. It would just be a dream to do that musical and play him.
What other activities are you involved in: nothing really, just the musical.
Future plans: I don’t really know yet. Still kinda thinking.
Jonah Tritt
Part in Musical: Pugsley Addams
Current Grade: 6th
Been in musicals/plays since: 4th Grade- Matilda; 5th Grade- Suessical the Musical at New Castle Playhouse
Previous leads/musicals you’ve been in: Matilda- Eric; Suessical- Thing 1 and a Who child
Favorite Song in this musical: I like -Crazier Than You
What interested you in this role: I really like the sibling dynamic between Wednesday and Pugsley. I also like how he enjoys building contraptions and experimenting with weird inventions. I also like that Pugsley and the rest of the Addams family are individuals who don’t care what others think about them.
What is an iconic prop in the musical or favorite part of your costume: The Torture Device!
What’s the hardest part about your role: When Pugsley is yelling during pull/torture device scene.
Has your character taught you anything “life changing” or that will stay with you after the show: Pugsley shows resilience when dealing with the changes happening within the Addams family. Pugsley’s struggles with losing the attention of his sister. Although he is facing changes, he eventually shows us his ability to overcome these challenges within the wild world of the Addams family.
What do you think the audience will like about the musical: I think they will love how funny it is!
What is unique about this musical: This musical looks like it would be doom and gloom, but it is hilarious!
If you could have a part in any musical … what would that musical be and why: Jack Kelly from the Newsies! I just love the music and the story.
What other activities are you involved in: When I am not obsessing over musicals, I love Basketball, camping and fishing!
Future plans: I plan to finish 6th grade and be in as many musicals as I can.
