Michael Milnes, of Ellwood City, passed away on Thursday February 29, 2024 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
For those who knew him, he lived his life curious, adventurous, brave, funny, hard-working, passionate, generous, and loving. While employed by the YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee in Fombell, he organized many projects including hayrides for ARC and the Blind Association, construction projects for the Navy Seabees, and many other organizations across PA. In addition, he was a man of many talents. He always had a plan to build, create, or serve. He cherished the memories of the times he coached Lil Angels Softball, and more recently was fulfilled and passionate about volunteering with the Wampum Chapter of the North Country Trail, Riverside Lions Club, and Meals on Wheels.
Throughout his life, he always dreamed big, and loved travel, storytelling, nature, and a good laugh. Above all else, he valued and loved his friends and family. Mike’s greatest joy was his grandchildren, Justin and Hannah Cameron, and Elijah and Jonah Mohr. May they always be reminded by their “Bubba” that, “It’s the little things in life that make it so sweet”.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 26 years Lisa Calio Milnes; two daughters, Stephanie (Richard) Cameron Meister and Georgia (Ben) Mohr both of Ellwood City; four brothers, James (Loraine) Shaffer of Mercer, Dan Milnes of Ellwood City, Robert (Ginny) Milnes of Myrtle Beach, and Tom (Barbara) Milnes of Ellwood City, and one sister Susan (Mike) Rowan of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents James V. and Lois Jean St. Clair Milnes; two brothers, Harry and Jack Milnes, one sister Rosetta Milnes, and his sister-in-law Shirley Zac Milnes.
A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held on March 16, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm with a Memorial Service and luncheon starting at 2:00 pm at the Lillyville Church of God Fellowship Hall. His brother, Pastor Tom Milnes will officiate.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jessica and Jenn from Good Samaritan Hospice, and Dr. Stephen Abel at the AHN Cancer Institute, for all of their kindness, patience, and care.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s name to Club Hope 237 6th St. Ellwood City.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Marshall Funeral Home, Ellwood City.
