Donald L. Nye, 73, of Franklin Twp, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at his home. He was the son of the late Thomas and Wanda (Freshcorn) Nye and was born March 30, 1950, in Ellwood City.
He is survived by his siblings; Thomas R. Nye of Ellwood City, Stella Winters and her husband Francis of Ellwood City, Tammie Koston of Canton, OH, several nieces and nephews, his beloved cat; Abby, his very special friends; Agnes Metney, Sue Edders along with many other close friends.
Donnie was born and raised in Ellwood City he was a 1968 graduate of Riverside High School. After he graduated, he was employed with Lark Industries, in New Castle, and he was a graduate of New Castle School of Trades, and he became a certified electrician. Donnie married his childhood friend, and his soulmate in 2003. They were married 13 years, until her death in 2013.
Donnie loved clocks and collected them over the years.Donnie was an advocate for those with disabilities, as he had, and he traveled to Harrisburg on numerous occasions to meet with Pennsylvania State Legislators and State Senators. He loved to go to Beacon Lodge and it was sponsored by the Pennsylvania Lions Club. Donnie loved music, especially songs from the 1960’s. His favorite artists were Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, The Doors and so many More! More than anything, Donnie was loved by so many and never met anyone who did not become his friend.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Mary Keys Nye, and one sister; Linda Nye.
Friends may call on the family on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Turner Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00AM at Turner’s
Interment will be in St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery in Fombell.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Donnie’s name to the Beaver County Lighthouse at 720 3rd Ave, New Brighton, PA 15066.
