Wanda M. Nye, 97, of North Sewickley Twp, passed away, Monday, January 2, 2024, at her home. She was the daugher of the late David and Lillian (Francis) Freshcorn and was born March 23, 1926, in Ellwood City.
She is survived by her children; Thomas R. Nye of Ellwood City, Donald Nye of Ellwood City, Stella Winters and her husband Francis of Ellwood City, and Tammie Koston of Canton, OH, grandchildren; Thomas W. Nye and his wife Shelley, Michael E. Nye and his wife Jamie, David Francis, Eric Francis, Heather Francis, Mary Francis, Alyssa Koston, Noah Koston, Alea Koston, 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Wanda was born and raised in Ellwood City. She met and married the love of her life, Thomas “Tom” Nye and they married, as soon as he returned from Active Service in World War II. Their family loved being together especially hunting, fishing Wanda loved cooking and baking and especially loved going to flea markets and finding great deals. Wanda was a longtime member of Word Alive Church attending for over 30 years. Most of all Wanda love her family and was a very special lady. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Thomas Nye, her daughter; Linda Nye; her siblings; Lee Francis and Violet “Irene” McGraw.
Friends may call on the family on Monday, January 8, 2024, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Turner Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 11:00AM at Turner’s.
Interment will be in St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery in Fombell.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Wanda’s name to St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery Association I/C of 97 Summit Ave Ellwood City, PA.
