Sarah M. Hardy, affectionately known as “Ma” to most, age 95, of New Castle, went home to be with her Lord and Savior the morning of Dec. 11, 2023, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born Jan. 7, 1928, in Ellwood City, PA, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Emma D. (Hall) Curry.
On March 27, 1948, she married her husband, William Frank Hardy, Sr. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2019.
Sarah was a graduate of Wampum High School. For several years, she worked as a clerk, employed by P&LE Railroad. In her younger years, Sarah loved to sing. She was a faithful member of Victory Christian Center, where she was a part of the meal and woman’s ministry groups.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Beth (Larry) Weis and Frances Rogers, both of New Castle, PA, Sue (Brian) Izzo of Painesville, OH, Marsha (John) Park of Avon, OH; daughter-in-law, Christy Hardy of New Castle, PA; two sons, Larry Hardy and Jeffrey (Jill) Hardy, both of New Castle, PA; two brothers, Levis Curry of Ellwood City, PA, and James (Connie) Pulliam of GA; two sisters-in-law, Martha Curry and Ella Curry; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sarah was preceded in death by one son William F. Hardy, Jr., two daughters, Cheryl Tremmel and Earla Hardy, son-in-law, Norman Tremmel, two brothers, William Curry and Fred Curry and a granddaughter-in-law, Adriane Park.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 18th from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tues. Dec. 19th at 10:00 AM, at the funeral home, with Pastor Carol Hutchins officiating.
Burial will be at Castleview Cemetery alongside her husband.
