Roberta Brown, 73

Roberta Brown, 73, of Ellwood City passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, at UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Ruth (Smith) Gillespie and was born November 27, 1950, in Ellwood City.

Roberta is survived by her daughters; Patricia Brown of Ellwood City and Laurie Hoover and her husband Craig of Baden, grandchildren; Rogan Bonner, Warren Jones, Ruth-Anne Bonner, Winter, Luke Hoover, Logan Hoover, and Laken Hoover; great-grandchildren; David Jones, Keegan Jones, one sister; Amy Ferrese and her husband Joe of Myrtle Beach, SC, one brother-in-law; Tim Kelly, along with many nieces and nephews and her closest friend; Kim Kerr.

She was a 1968 graduate of Lincoln High School and attended nursing school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Ellwood Hospital and Hillview Manor as an LPN, for over 25 years. She loved reading, completing crossword puzzles, and music. She loved watching her “cop” shows with her favorites being Blue Bloods, NCIS, Perry Mason, Matlock and Criminal Minds. She was a very strong lady and worked very hard to raise her daughters all on her own so she could provide for her family. She loved and adored her family, her daily phone calls with her daughters and friends.

She was preceded in death by one daughter; Rhonda Brown who she lost in infancy, one brother David Gillespie, two sisters; Dr. Cynthia Gillespie, Donna Kelly, and her spiritual son-in-law; Keith Winchell.

At Roberta’s request, there will be no services.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle for their care and love over the past three years, while she was a resident.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to the TURNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES located at 6th and Park in Ellwood City.
