Marita Kelosky, 75, of Ellwood City passed away Monday, November 20, 2023, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Wasily “Willy” and Margaret (Mueller) Galkow and was born October 3, 1948, in Rothenstadt-Wieden Germany.
She is survived by her children; Dan and his wife Dana of Fombell, Paul Kelosky and his wife Dianna of Renfrew, Lori Emert and her husband Ron of Butler, Ray Kelosky and his wife Tracy of Beaver Falls, Lida Napier of Ellwood City, twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; her sister; Margie Kelly of Evans City, along with a host of nieces, nephews and many cousins and friends.
Marita was born in Germany and came to the US in 1951. She was a longtime employee of The Passavant Community, in Zelienople, along with her mother and sister. She also was a waitress at Christy’s Restaurant in Ellwood City. Marita was a Championship Bowler, winning numerous Bowling Series Championships, and having numerous perfect games. She was a 55-year member of the Hungarian Club, joining in 1968. There, she became known as “Margarita”. She was also an avid billiards player and was the captain of the Women’s Hungarian Club Billiards team. Marita was also an avid darts player and played competitively in the area. She also loved and enjoyed playing bingo. Marita was also a longtime member of the Saxon Club and the Son’s of Italy Club, in Ellwood City.
Marita was known to have a “Green Thumb.” She kept and had a garden for many years, where she grew, potatoes, tomatoes, zucchini along with many other herbs and spices in her garden.
She loved to cook, and she cooked and baked for anyone in and out of her home. She was known best for her lasagna and mashed potatoes.
Marita was a true friend and would do anything for anyone in need. She had a big heart and was always thinking about others before herself. Marita was loved and adored by many who knew her throughout the community and especially all the clubs that she loved and was involved with.
She was preceded in death by her siblings; Karl, Yan, Hilda Anderson, and Frieda Davis
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations made in Marita’s name to the American Cancer Society at www.donate.cancer.org or a charity of their choice.
Friends may call on the family on Friday, November 24, 2023, from 6:00pm-8:00PM at Turner Funeral Home, with an additional hour of calling hours, on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 11:00AM until the time of the Funeral Services at 12:00PM, at Turner’s, with Pastor Matt Bupp, Officiating
