HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) will be hosting a Hard to Read License Plate event to help constituents with free replacement of license plates that have become difficult to read.
The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Prospect Boro/Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department.
“Our motorists can get pulled over and fined if their license plate is crumbling or deteriorated,” said Bernstine. “Police need to be able to identify vehicles that they might be seeking. I strongly encourage residents to bring in their vehicles and begin the FREE license plate replacement process.”
A registration plate is deemed illegible when one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet away.
Drivers must bring along their unexpired Pennsylvania driver’s license and current vehicle registration card. This event is only for those with standard or eligible vanity plates. Specialty plates such as those for veterans, PA zoos, college alumni, etc. cannot be processed at this event. Drivers who have specialty plates with damage will need to work directly with Bernstine’s office on a replacement.

The Prospect Boro/Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department is located at 373 Main St., P.O. Box 516, in Prospect.
