Robert “Bob” I. Minteer, 96, of New Castle passed away, at his home surrounded by his family, on Thursday, September 14, 2023. He was the son of the late Frank A. and Ida Mae (Bleakney) Minteer and he was born September 1, 1927,in Rose Point
He is survived by his daughter; Linda Guidish and her husband Kenneth of Rose Point, Donald Minteer and his wife Judie of New Castle, Judy Brenner and her husband Bruce of New Castle, Susan Zikeli and her husband Randy of New Castle, his grandchildren; Joel Guidish and his wife Tabitha, Chelsea Guidish, Lindsay Rader and her husband Ray, Tanya Heim and her husband Eric, Blaine Zikeli, his great-grandchildren; Jeremiah and Koreen Guidish, and Hailey Zikeli.
Bob was born and he grew up in Rose Point. He was the third child of Frank and Ida Bleakney. Bob always was working from delivering milk, being a bellhop at the Castleton Hotel, and delivering newspapers. While he was employed with Matthews Conveyor, he also ran his own hauling business. He was a Volunteer Firefighter for the Shenango Twp Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years. He loved to tease people relentlessly and he respected those who teased him back. He loved gardening and had a vegetable garden behind his home. He also loved roses and had several rose bushes. He met the love of his life, Donna Byers, in 1949 and they eloped to Winchester, VA, in 1951 and got married. They were married for 61 years. Bob loved camping, and especially the time he spent with his family at the Cottage. He loved the Statler Brothers. He and Donna loved traveling. They traveled to Tennessee, Branson, MO, Florida and especially to Erie.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Donna (Byers) Minteer, one grandson; Jeremy Guidish, his siblings; Lemoyne Minteer, Wayne Minteer, and Cecilia Minteer
Friends may call on the family on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm at Turner Funeral Home. There will be an additional time for Viewing on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 10am-11am with Funeral Services following at Turner’s, at 11am, with Pastor Joe Lahr, officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery.
