W. Randal McClure, affectionately known as Randy, passed away on August 29, 2023, at the age of 70. He was born on November 2, 1952, in Trenton, New Jersey, but spent his formative years in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. Randy’s life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his many close friendships and his faithful focus on living his best life.
Randy earned his Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He joked that his degree made him a “Jack of all trades, but a master of none.” He remained an avid Pitt fan and season ticket holder his entire life.
Randy was an entrepreneur and built his business in a way that he could be present for his family and golf every Thursday.
Among Randy’s many other passions were swimming, spending time with friends, and the simple pleasure of lounging on the beach. He had a keen mind for puzzles, and he was an avid reader.
Above all, Randy treasured his family. He shared 46 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Laura McClure. Randy was a devoted father to Kyle (Gina) McClure, Leigh (Chris Gira) McClure, and Brant (Holly) McClure. He shared a close bond with his sister, Sharon (Ray) Wimple, and he was a cherished presence in the lives of his eight grandchildren. He will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, William and Donna McClure.
To celebrate Randy’s life, a wake will be held at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, located at 1032 Perry Hwy, Pittsburgh, PA 15237, on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 4pm-7pm. A Mass in celebration of Randy’s life will take place at St. John Neumann Church, 2230 Rochester Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237, on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 10:30 am, followed by a luncheon where memories and stories of Randy’s life can be shared.
Randy’s presence in our lives will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a cause that was dear to Randy’s heart.
Rest in peace, Randy. Your warmth, laughter, and love will forever be etched in our hearts.
