Phyllis Jean LeViere, 95, of Perry Township passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at Quality Life Services in Grove City.
Born July 12, 1928 in Cedarville, OH, she was the daughter of the late Donald P. and Mabel C. Strobridge Snarr. She married David L. “Big Pa” LeViere on July 11, 1953. He passed away on April 22, 2006.
Jean went to elementary school in Yonkers New York and had graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis IN. She then attended Indiana University in IN for 1 year before attending Anderson College in IN where she earned her bachelor’s degree. Jean was a schoolteacher and primarily taught 2nd grade. She spent 1 year teaching in Baltimore MD before moving to the Ellwood City Area, where she taught at Ellport and North Side for over 30 years until her retirement. She was an active devoted member of the 1st Church of God for over 70 years where she was active with the “Young at Heart” group, taking day trips, holding Bible studies, and other activities. She also belonged to College Club in Ellwood City, helping to send local kids to college with scholarships, and was a former member of the B.P.W. in Ellwood City. Jean had a passion for books and learning. She loved traveling and had been all over the United States and overseas.
Survivors include 4 sons, David E. (Nancy) “Chip” Jr. of Slippery Rock, Robin of Mt. Jewett, Lynn B. (Colleen) of New Castle, and Brad N. (Linda) LeViere of Portersville; daughter, Lana J. (Robert) Henry of Mount Gilead, OH; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a brother Neil (Ruth) Snarr of Wilmington OH.
A Private Graveside Service for the family will be held at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Butler. Her Pastor Phil Conklin will officiate. Interment will follow.
Her Celebration of Life Service will be held at the 1st Church of God Ellwood City on Sunday August 13, 2023 at 3:00 PM.
