The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II met on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at their Shelter in Ewing Park. President Mike DeOtto opened the meeting introducing guests Jackie Dimeo and Kevin Swogger.
Mrs Dimeo is the President of the Divine Grace Parish Christian Mothers. The Christian Mothers have worked with the Wolves Club Ash Wednesday Fish Fry’s and Golf Bash for many years. The Wolves Club provided a donation of $2500 from the Golf Bash Fund Raising efforts in honor of their continued help and support and to assist in their efforts to start a scholarship program of their own.
Mr. Swogger was the guest speaker and talked on the condition of the Ellwood City Borough. Mr. Swogger is an Ellwood City graduate who joined the Air Force and worked around the world, including a stint in the White House, before returning to Ellwood as the current Borough Manager.
John Biondi lead the blessing and the pledge of allegiance.
Wolves club member Ed Leymarie was recognized for being coordinator of the Ellwood City Ledger Festival Annual 10 K race for the past 41 years.
Bob Petti, Wolves Club Festival Chairman, provided the menu for the upcoming Arts and Crafts Festival on June 30-July 2, 2023. They will again be having Lamb and Fish Dinners this year. All members are encouraged to help this important event be a success.
Vice President Denny Boariu reminded members of the next event after the Festival; the Annual Oktoberfest which is on October 7, 2023 this year.
The Wolves also congratulated the Riverside Baseball team on their winning year and good luck in Penn State for the PIA championships.
Dinner was provided by the volunteer cooks: Sam Teolis, Bob Delisio and Matt Walley.
The Wolves Club motto is Pro Bono Publico meaning For the Good of the Public. The Wolves Club participates in various community events as well as hosting their own programs to fund their scholarship programs. New members are always welcome. During the summer, the Club meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays at the Wolves Shelter in Ewing Park at 630PM.
