Wilda L. Summers, 84 of Ellwood City passed away peacefully at The Grove at Harmony on June 10, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy (Peterson) Currence and was born October 9, 1938, in Weston, WV.
She is survived by her daughter; Debra Summers of Panorama, CA, one sister; Declie Holbert of Odessa, FL, her adopted daughter; Michelle Mikosz of Ellwood City, several nieces and nephews,her one cat, Katie, and many close friends.
Wilda was born and raised in the Weston, WV area. She was a 1956 graduate of Lincoln High School, and she attended Estella Nursing School in Pittsburgh, where she received her degree in Practical Nursing. She worked at the Ellwood City Hospital before she and her husband Lavelle started their family. Wilda loved all God’s creatures, especially cats and strived to make sure the homeless cats had shelter, food and water. They were very dear to her heart. She enjoyed listening to the old hymns and always enjoyed singing. Wilda and her family enjoyed camping and spending time with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, of over 50 years, C. Lavelle Summers, and one son; Lavelle David Summers.
Friends may call on the family from at 11:00am -12:00PM, on June 16, 2023 at Turner Funeral Home in Ellwood City with a Funeral Service following at 12:00pm with Rev Matt Bupp Officiating
Interment will be in Clinton Cemetery in Wampum.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations be made, in Wilda’s name, to the Feline Friends of Ellwood City.
