Joseph Ralph Young Sr., 88, of New Galilee passed away Friday, May 26, 2023 at his residence after an extended illness.
Born November 29, 1934 in Darlington Township, he was the son of the late Arthur and Margaret Louise McCoy Young. He was married to June Wharry Young.
Joseph had graduated from Darlington High School. Following graduation, he worked at the B&W until his retirement. He was a member of the Enon Presbyterian Church and former Board Member of the White Church Cemetery. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed feeding the neighborhood.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years June, son, Eugene Scott (Fay) Young of Chippewa; sister, Mary Louise Minteer of New Castle; two brothers, Lawrence Eugene Young of Chippewa and Gerald B. (Terrye) Young of Lisbon, OH, and two grandchildren, S.J. and Kaitlyn Young.
He was preceded in death by his son Joseph Jr. on August 8, 2010, sister Marthabelle Young Newton, and one brother Richard.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday May 31, 2023 from 4:00 pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 7:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street Wampum. Rev. Duane Herron retired Pastor of the Enon Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Interment will follow in White Church Cemetery.
