William O. Thompson “Uncle Junior” and “Pappy” , 95, of Beaver Falls passed away peacefully at Guardian Healthcare in Beaver Falls on May 4, 2023.He was the son of the late William and Lottie (Forgy) Thompson and was born in Washington DC.
He is survived by three daughters; Renita Renee’ Thompson and her husband Larry Nesbitt of Beaver Falls, Barbara Benson of South Carolina, April Morton of New Jersey, two sons; Eddie Thompson of Pittsburgh, Michael Thompson, his grandchildren; William Thompson, Jr of Maine and Larry Nesbitt of Beaver Falls, Brian Benson. He also had great love for his other 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, his Nieces and Nephews; Mary Thompson, Linda Thompson, Phyllis Thompson all of Ellwood City, Leroy Thompson and wife Elizabeth of New Castle, and two cousins; Thelma Thompson of Washington, DC and Shirley Thompson of Maryland and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
He graduated from high school in Washington, D.C. upon graduation he enlisted in the US Navy and serving proudly in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He married Catherine “Katie” Thompson after being honorably discharged from the Navy. He loved jazz music and a little bit of scotch. He was most proud of his relationship with Jesus Christ and he believed that if it was not for his Lord and savior, he would not have made it through the World War II. He was loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and most of all he loved his family and friends deeply.
He is preceded in death by his wife, of over 50 years, Catherine “Katie” Thompson, one brother; Leroy Thompson and one sister in law; Emma Thompson.
Friends may call on the family on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 12:00pm-2:00pm. Military Honors will be rendered at 2:00pm with Funeral Services following at 2:00pm at Turner Funeral Home with Reverend Jimmy Johnson, officiating.
A Repast will be held following the interment at Holy Spirit Fellowship Church in New Brighton
Interment will follow at Clinton Cemetery in Wampum.
