Four-nataro! Four More Hits By Fornataro Helps Riverside Sweep Quaker Valley

After collecting four hits on Tuesday, Riverside Panther Bo Fornataro put together another four hit performance Wednesday to help pave the way to victory for the Panthers in their 12-4 victory over Quaker Valley wrapping up the sweep of a home-and-home series.

Fornataro singled in the first, doubled in the second, singled in the sixth, and doubled in the seventh. The 6’2″ junior outfielder knocked in three runs and scored three times.

In the first inning, Riverside Baseball Varsity got their offense started when Fornataro singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. The Panthers moved ahead 5-0 before Quaker Valley responded with four unanswered runs. Riverside struck again in the top half of the fifth inning with three insurance runs.

Riverside scattered 14 hits in the game. Fornataro, Sam Barber (3-4, 1 2b, 2 runs), Darren McDade, and Hunter Garvin all collected multiple hits for the Panthers.

Hunter Garvin got the win in relief for Riverside. Garvin went five innings, allowing zero runs on six hits, striking out seven and walking one. Shawn Kristophel started the game and lasted two innings, allowing five hits and two runs while walking zero.

Steffey took the loss for Quaker Valley. The pitcher allowed five hits and five runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Quaker Valley tallied 13 hits in the game. Roig, Szuba, Finamore, and Rader all managed multiple hits for Quaker Valley.

For the two-game series against Quaker Valley, Fornataro finished a perfect 8-8 at the dish with three doubles, five runs scored, and eight runs batted in.
