Riverside nabbed the lead late in the game in a 10-6 victory over Hopewell on Friday to remain unbeaten.
The Panthers trailed 6-5 in the top of the fifth inning when Evan Burry doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Hopewell scored four runs in the second inning, but Riverside still managed to pull out the victory. The Vikings offense in the inning was led by John Vescio, Landon Fox, and Lucas Arington, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Hunter Garvin was the winning pitcher for Riverside. The pitcher went three innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out six and walking one. Shawn Kristophel threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Zach Hare started the game for Riverside. The righty surrendered four runs on two hits over two innings, striking out three.
Zachary Gigliotti took the loss for Hopewell. Gigliotti lasted two and a third innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three and walking one.
Riverside scattered 14 hits in the game. Ashton Schlosser, Sam Barber, Mitch Garvin, Darren McDade, and Garvin each collected multiple hits for the Panthers. Schlosser went 3-for-4 at the plate (two RBIs) to lead the team in hits. Burry, Garvin, Garvin, Hardy and Schlosser all collected doubles in the victory.
Riverside, now 8-0 overall on the season, will have its SENIOR DAY game on Tuesday, April 18th versus Union Area at 4:00 PM – Senior Day activities prior to the start of the game (approx 3:40).
